Sandpipers
Sandpipers is a pretty 5 bedroom cottage with outstanding views across the
Taw and Torridge estuary and out to Lundy Island. Instow is renowned for
its huge sandy beach, great pubs and restaurants, watersports (including
sailing and waterskiing). In addition there are lovely walks and cycling
on the Tarka Trail (which is at the bottom of the garden) and along the
coast. It is a friendly uncrowded village loved by both families and
couples alike. Sandpipers is in the heart of the village and is approx 250
yards from the beach and150yrds from an excellent village deli / butcher /
shop. The house has an open plan living area with large french doors that
fold right back extending the room on to a decked terrace. The whole house
has been recently extended, refurbished and decorated to a high standard
and has oak flooring, a wet room, Bose CD / DVD and digital television
system as well as a substantial utility room with drinks fridge, washing
machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen is very well equipped and includes a
range cooker. There is a good sized enclosed, lawned garden. The house has
been designed for three couples (2 x doubles + 1 twin) but will
comfortably accommodate 2 larger families (ie using the two bunk bed
rooms.) Instow is approx 3 ½ hours from London or about 1¾ hours from
Bristol. It is available from Friday evening (6.30pm) and departure time
is 2pm, making it perfect for both a weeks holiday or a short break
weekend.
The house
On the top floor there is a king size master bedroom with en-suite shower
and loo. This room has 2 large velux windows with fabulous views right
across the estuary and around to Bideford Bay. On the first floor there is
a double bedroom with king size bed and similar views across the bay. In
addition there is a third room with twin single beds, a family bathroom
and two further bedrooms with built in bunk beds. Both bunk rooms have
full length, cabin bunk bed mattresses. On the ground floor there is an
open style living area divided into a sitting room, dining room and well
equipped kitchen with double range cooker. The utility room has a
microwave, washing machine, additional large fridge, tumble dryer and
hanging rack for drying clothes. There is also a downstairs loo. The wet
room near the main door has a luxury, large head, power shower. It also
has a smaller hand shower for washing children / dogs etc after a day on
the beach / walking etc. From the main sitting room huge double doors fold
right back on themselves to open the terrace up as an extra "room". There
is a large patio table and 6 chairs and a full sized moveable barbeque.
