April 18th 1895
The Annual Meeting of the parish Council was held this day in the vestry room
at 7 o'clock p.m.
Members present. Messrs. W H Lock, Nation, Joslin, W.A. Easterbrook, J
Easterbrook, W A Pidler.
Moved by Mr Nation & seconded by Mr Joslin that Mr Lock be the Chairman for
the ensuing year. Carried unanimously.
The minutes of the last meeting were then read and approved.
Mr Lock reported that he had communicated with Mr Christie with reference to
the nuisance on the foreshore and Mr Christie (the Lord of the Manor) was
having notice boards put up with regard to the matter. Resolved that the Clerk
be instructed to see Mr Masterton the surveyor of main roads and since there
is a wish on the part of the parishioners to have the seats erected in
convenient places by the parade the Council will be obliged if he will consent
to their being placed where desired.
Moved by Mr Nation & seconded by Mr J Easterbrook. Carried unanimously.
The minutes of the last parish meeting were then read and the Chairman read a
statement of facts relating to the National School premises which he had
prepared. Moved by Mr W. A. Easterbrook seconded by Mr Joslin that a copy of
such statement be sent to the Local Government Board in order that the
ownership of the premises should be decided. Carried unanimously.
The question of ownership of the vestry room having been brought forward it
was agreed that the Clerk, assisted by the Chairman, should state the facts to
the Parish and Rural District Association and obtain an opinion.

were appointed overseers for the ensuing year. Thomas Rodd and W.H. Lock Esq.
were nominated Assessors for the ensuing year.
Moved by Mr W.A. Easterbrook seconded by Mr Pidler that Thomas Rodd the Clerk
be paid £2-10-0 for his services since the formation of the Parish Council.
Carried unanimously.
Moved by Mr WA Easterbrook seconded by Mr H.A Pidler that Thomas Rodd be
appointed Assistant Overseer for the parish and that his remuneration for all
the duties of an Overseer be £21 per annum. Carried.
A letter was read from the Clerk to the District Council stating that the
District Council under Sec. 15 of the "Local Government Act" 1894 delegate to
the parish Council the powers contemplated under the section. Moved by Mr
Nation seconded by Mr J Easterbrook that Mr Thorne Surveyor be requested to
examine the supply pipe of the flushing tank and repair the same if the
expense does not exceed £20-0-0. Carried unanimously.
The Allotment Warden's Account for one year ending December 25th 1894 was
produced by Messrs Lock and Joslin, the Allotment Wardens, showing a balance
of £3-16-11 due from the Wardens which amount was paid over to the treasurer
of Parish Council
Moved by Mr Nation seconded by Mr Joslin that Mr Fulton and Mr W.A.
Easterbrook be the Allotment Wardens for the ensuing year. Carried
unanimously.
Moved by Mr Easterbrook seconded by Mr W.A. Pidler that the Clerk make
application to the Rector and Churchwardens (who are now the trustees of the
Recreation Ground) to render an account and pay over the accumulated rents of
such land to the Parish Council. Carried unanimously.
A precept was issued in the Overseers for £10 to be paid on or before the 30th
April.
The following cheques were ordered to be drawn.
