MINUTES OF THE MARCH 18th 1896 MEETING OF INSTOW PARISH COUNCIL


March 18th 1896

A meeting of the parish Council was held in the vestry room at 7 o'clock
p.m.
Present. W H Lock, Robertson, W.A. Easterbrook, J Easterbrook, Bellew,
Nation, Joslin and W. Pidler.

The minutes of the Council meeting and the Parish meeting of the 9th Inst
were read & approved.

Applications for the post of clerk to the Council and assistant overseer
were received from Jonathan P. England and Charles Parkhouse it was moved by
Mr Nation sec by Mr Bellew that J.P. England be elected. Mr W.A.
Easterbrook's nomination of C. Parkhouse not being seconded J.P. England was
unanimously elected.

A discussion took place with regard to providing a box to obtain an estimate
for an oak chest.

The under mentioned letter from the Rev. S.C. Haines was read to the Council
and ordered to be inserted in the minutes.

Thank you for your letter of March 10th. I will order a key and forward it
to you as soon as it is made.

P.S. Do you think that the Parish Council had better order a few chairs. I
will lend you anything you want but my people are continually moving the
forms from one room to another as they want them & as I don't know the days
of your meetings they might be away on some occasion & without our wishing
to leave you in any discomfort."
