Copy of Analyst's Report Bristol July 22nd 1897

Gentlemen
Water from Lock's Well

I have analysed a sample of this water received from your surveyor on the
20th inst.

This sample was turbid and deposited a filmy sediment. On standing it
yielded the following results

Grams per gallon
Saline Ammonia 0.001
Albuminoidal Ammonia 0.0035
Nitrogen as nitrates & nitrites 2.76
Nitrites Trace
Chlorine as chlorides 15.70
Oxygen absorbed in 15 minutes at 80 7.014
Do do 4 hour do 0.20
Total dissolved solids 99.0
Temporary hardness 14.5
Permanent do 32.0
Total do 46.5
Poisonous metals Absent

This water is extensively polluted with sewerage that has percolated into
the well through the soil, and it is my opinion not fit for human
consumption.
