A meeting of the Parish Council and overseers was held in the vestry room at
7pm Present Major Winter vice chairman, Messrs Joslin, J. Easterbrook, W.A.
Easterbrook, Patch, A. Pidler, and C. Pidler.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and signed.
The following reply was read from Mr Christie:-

Dear Sir
I hope to be in Devon shortly and I will give the matters referred to in your
letter of 28th ult my attention. I gather the Instow Parish Council now
consider I am responsible for the repair of the road both from the cricket
field to the railway crossing and also from Venn Lane to the allotment field.

The following letter was read from the manager of the Devon & Cornwall Bank
Ltd.
Bideford 21st June 1900
Sir
Having been appointed to succeed Mr Durant in the management of this branch I
beg to offer myself as a candidate for the post of treasurer of the Instow
Parish Council.

On the motion of Mr W. A. Easterbrook, seconded by Mr C. Pidler Mr Maye was
unanimously elected.
The following letter from the clerk to the Rural District Council to the
Chairman was also read.
Barnstaple
17th July 1900
Dear Sir
Instow Water Supply
In pursuance of Section 16, Sub-section (3) of the Local Government Act 1894 I
send herewith for the information of the Instow Parish Council plans for the
proposed water supply for Instow.
The cost of the proposed works is estimated at £904-0-6. Please return the
plans & c in due course with any observations or suggestions the Parish
Council may desire to offer thereon.

After the matter had been discussed the clerk was instructed to reply. The
following is a copy of the letter sent.
Instow 26th July 1900
Dear Sir
Instow Water Supply
Your letter of the 17th inst to the chairman of the Instow Parish Council
together with the plans enclosed has been laid before that body and I am
directed to say that as the suggestions of the Parish Council have been of no
avail in the past they now place themselves in the hands of the District
Council.
At the same time they would suggest that the Kiln Close Road should be taken
over by the District Council.
